Since 2017, Liberty Church has had the privilege of gathering every Sunday in the Vondelkerk. This building has held many meaningful memories for our community, as well as the wider city of Amsterdam, and we are deeply saddened by the devastating fire that occurred last night.
At this stage, we are taking time to carefully assess options for our Sunday morning gatherings. We appreciate your patience and prayers as we navigate this unprecedented moment.
Update 4 Jan 2026: For the coming period, starting on Sunday 11 January 2026, our Sunday morning services will take place in the Posthoornkerk at 9.30 & 11.00. More details
In the interim, Liberty Church will continue to gather for evening services at the Thomaskerk in Amsterdam Zuid. Our Sunday morning gatherings will resume as soon as a suitable location is confirmed, and further details will be shared in the coming Sundays once plans are in place.
This Sunday, 4 January 2026, we will only have one service, held at 17.00 in the Thomaskerk. We will be using the main hall (rather than the smaller theatre) so there is capacity for a large number of attendees.
While much remains uncertain, we take great comfort in knowing that our hope rests in the living God and in His faithfulness. We may not know what tomorrow holds, but we know the One who does, and that gives us peace as we move forward together. Thank you for standing with us in prayer.

Sinds 2017 heeft Liberty Church het voorrecht om iedere zondag diensten in de Vondelkerk te houden. Dit gebouw herbergt vele betekenisvolle herinneringen voor onze gemeenschap als ook voor de stad Amsterdam. We zijn zeer bedroefd door de verwoestende brand die afgelopen nacht heeft plaatsgevonden.
Op dit moment zijn we druk bezig onze opties voor de zondagochtend diensten te bekijken. We waarderen jullie geduld en gebed nu we met deze onvoorziene omstandigheid proberen om te gaan.
Update 4 januari 2026: Vanaf zondag 11 januari 2026 zullen onze zondagochtenddiensten plaatsvinden in de Posthoornkerk om 9.30 en 11.00 uur. Meer informatie
In de tussentijd zal Liberty Church haar middagdiensten in de Thomaskerk voortzetten. Onze ochtenddiensten zullen, zo snel als we een andere locatie hebben gevonden, weer opstarten.
Aanstaande zondag, 4 januari 2026, zullen we één dienst houden om 17:00 uur in de Thomaskerk. We zullen daar de grote zaal gebruiken, (in plaats van het kleinere theater, dat we normaal gebruiken), zodat er ruimte is voor veel bezoekers.
Hoewel er nog veel onzeker is, putten we troost uit de wetenschap dat onze hoop ligt in de levende God en zijn trouw. We weten weliswaar nog niet wat de dag van morgen zal brengen, maar we kennen Degene die dat wel weet en dat geeft ons vrede als we samen verder gaan. Dank voor jullie gebed voor ons.
