Suggestions on how we can pray for healing
“Lord, teach us how to pray.”
1. Best to start with Praise and Thanksgiving
Begin by thanking God for His love, mercy, and faithfulness. Acknowledge His power and sovereignty over all things, including healing.
Psalm 103:2-3: “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.”
2. Then declare God’s Promises
Use specific Bible verses that speak of healing.
Exodus 15:26: “I am the Lord who heals you.”
Psalm 107:20: “He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.”
Isaiah 53:5: “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
3. Pray for Faith and Trust
Ask God to increase our faith for the person who is sick and to help them trust in His healing power. God is able to heal and to hold onto hope.
Romans 4:16-21 (The importance of faith in receiving God’s promises.)
4. Pray for Comfort and Peace
Ask God to fill everyone with His peace and comfort during this time of illness. Pray for the Holy Spirit to be their comforter and guide.
5. Pray for Strength and Endurance
Ask God to give the person strength to endure their suffering and to persevere in their healing journey.
Proverbs 4:20-22 (God’s word being life and health to all your flesh)
6. Pray for others involved
If the illness is affecting others, pray for them as well. Ask God to give them strength, wisdom, and compassion.
7. Pray for God to be glorified
Pray that God will be glorified through this journey and that the testimony will inspire others.
Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Thank God for hearing your prayers and for His faithfulness. Trust that He is working in the situation and that He will bring about healing according to His will.
As we pray for healing, we can approach with full faith in God’s ability while submitting ourselves to Him whose ways are higher than ours and whose wisdom is beyond our understanding.
