By public transport, the journey from Amsterdam takes about 1.5-2 hours. Stations with direct Intercity train connections to s’Hertogenbosch include Amsterdam Centraal, Amstel, Zuid, Bijlmer Arena & Schiphol. Utrecht is a key connection point if you are travelling from another station. If you arrive at Den Bosch by 17:10, the 239 (mini)bus will drop you on the doorstep! Please note there is no public transport between the venue and s’Hertogenbosch on Sunday.
- In line with the monastery rhythm & the mission of the house where we are being hosted, the evening meals will be simple (bread & soup, more similar to a typical Dutch lunch) with a heartier meal at lunchtime on Saturday.
- If you indicated dietary requirements in your registration form, your needs will be catered for.
- If you love to bake cakes or have a favourite supermarket sweet treat you think everyone should know about, please bring something sweet along to share in the coffee breaks
- Everyone will be rostered on with a group to serve and clean up after one meal during the weekend. Please take note when you arrive in your room which meal you have been assigned to.

Location
Our weekend will be hosted at Bezinningscentrum Emmaus, just outside Den Bosch. It is a total change of scenery from the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam which we hope will offer a refreshing backdrop for our time together.
You will find seats everywhere around the venue, for a good conversation or a moment of peace and reflection. In the extensive gardens of Emmaus you will find terraces and garden seats to enjoy the sun and gezelligheid. There is a small playground for the children. Have fun on the sports fields for football and volleyball matches or go for a walk in our own forest, with pond and walking paths.
Accommodation
The whole point of the weekend is to deepen our relationships so we will be going proper “camp style” and (predominantly) staying in single-sex dorm rooms. It’s a great chance to make new friends!
But it’s also nice to be with someone you know, so when you can register you can mention a friend or your community group’s name and we’ll try to place you together.
If you have special reasons to request a private room, you can indicate that during registration and we’ll have a chat with you to see what can be arranged. Adults aged 50+ will be offered private rooms (unless you prefer a dorm!).
Families
If you are attending as a family with children, you will be accommodated in a room together with your children. Please note the venue only has showers, no bath tubs.
Accessibility
The venue is accessible for people with additional mobility needs including a room with a wheelchair-accessible bathroom. There is a place to indicate this during registration.
You can sense the old monastery atmosphere, with wide corridors and high ceilings. The bedrooms are simple with shared bathroom facilities in the hallway. The rooms have various capacities, sleeping up to 7 in single/bunk beds.
Linen
You can either bring your own linen (bath towel & bed sheets 90×200) or choose to rent them from the venue for an additional cost.
Please bring your own bed sheets for baby travel cots.
Your questions answered
Short answer – YES.
If you’re new with us, we can understand you might feel nervous about coming along but this is the best possible way to kick-start making new friends and feeling a part of the community at Liberty.
If you’ve been at Liberty a long time, with our continued growth there are probably plenty of people you don’t know well or at all. Spending multiple days away together will give us the opportunity to deepen relationships.
Whether you’re looking for a relaxing time away with friends, stretching your mind with great teaching from the Bible or to escape the city for the weekend & be refreshed in nature, this weekend has it all!
The program details will be available closer to the date.
One of the main goals (if not THE main goal) of the weekend is to help us get to know one another and grow community at Liberty. We’ve deliberately set aside plenty of time for social time, fun activities & entertainment together, sports, enjoying nature etc.
We’ll also have time to worship God together and hear teaching to help shape the next stage of adventure here at Liberty. For the kids they’ll be enjoying their own fun program so it’s sure to be a great weekend for all!
Absolutely! In fact the kids might be having the most fun of all this weekend. A fun program is being planned for kids aged 2 & over, full of games, activities, music and teaching at the same time as the adult sessions.
Kids under 2 are of course welcome too! There will be a space where a parent can be with them if they are unsettled, just like on Sundays.
Outside of the kids program, there are also many opportunities onsite to have fun as a family and with other Liberty kids. There is plenty of space to explore and get active in nature – a perfect change of scenery from the city!
The venue has high chairs & (limited) cribs/cots. Please note the venue only has showers, no bath tubs.
