Since April 2023 we’ve been serving another church in the city – Waterland Church. Whilst their pastor took a 3 month sabbatical break, we have hosted their Sunday gatherings, with a view to an ongoing partnership between our two churches.
Waterland Church was started by Alexis & Deline Wadman 19 years ago, and since then the community has faithfully served the Amstelveen, Buitenveldert and Amsterdam-Zuid neighbourhoods. They have seen many people come to know Jesus, and have built a vibrant and loving church family. They’ve met at various different Sunday venues during these 19 years but most recently have been gathering on Sunday afternoons at the Thomaskerk. It has been a joy for us at Liberty to serve them over the last few months.
Waterland are now stepping into a new season. Alexis & Deline have now handed over the care of and responsibility for the Waterland Church family to the team here at Liberty.
During July & August, Waterland Church will be taking a break from Sunday gatherings at the Thomaskerk and will be joining Liberty’s services at 9.30 & 11.00 in the Vondelkerk.
In September, we will be relaunching back at 15:00 at the Thomaskerk on Sundays as a new community of Liberty Church Amsterdam. We’ve excited to carry on the legacy and build upon the wonderful New Testament church values that Waterland have displayed. This is not just the end of one season but also the beginning of a new adventure for this community and for us as Liberty Church.
